First Lady Visits with UK Children and Scouts

The president and first lady experienced a delay in their departure from England due to a Marine One mechanical issue.

First Lady Melania Trump toured Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House and the Royal Library at Windsor Castle with Queen Camilla on Thursday. They also met schoolchildren who were working on art projects.

The first lady then visited Frogmore House, meeting Princess Kate and the U.K. Chief Scout. Mrs. Trump interacted with children at an outdoor Squirrel Scouts program. The children participated in leaf stamping and bug house activities before receiving badges at a ceremony attended by the first lady and the princess.

First Lady Melania Trump handed out gift bags to all the children. The White House stated that these events “highlighted creativity, community, and the well-being of children—central themes of the First Lady’s BE BEST initiative.”

The first lady concluded her time in the United Kingdom in a private lunch at Chequers Court with Lady Starmer. Following lunch, they observed a display by the “Red Devils,” an elite British Army Parachute Regiment unit.

The president and first lady experienced a delay as they prepared to depart Great Britain. “Due to a minor hydraulic issue, and out of an abundance of caution, the [Marine One] pilots landed at a local airfield before reaching Stansted airport,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told the press pool. “The president and first lady safely boarded the support helicopter.” They then transferred to Air Force One for the return flight to the U.S.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the first lady as she advocates for children through her Be Best Initiative.
  • For the safety of the president and first lady as they travel home.
  • For the pilots of Marine One and Air Force One to be alert, vigilant, and proficient in their operation of the executive aircraft.
