Vice President escorts his coffin and his widow home to Arizona.
President Donald Trump announced that he will posthumously award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated on Wednesday at a campus event at Utah Valley University.
President Trump described the Christian apologist as “a giant of his generation, a champion of liberty and an inspiration to millions and millions of people.”
The president said, “I have no doubt that Charlie’s voice and the courage he put into the hearts of countless people, especially young people, will live on.”
Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance flew to Utah on Thursday to escort Charlie’s remains back to Arizona from Utah on Air Force Two. The vice president and second lady, close friends of the Kirk family, also provided comfort and support to Charlie’s widow, Erika. The vice president made the trip west in lieu of his appearance at the Ground Zero 9/11 memorial.
President Trump stated that he would be attending Charlie Kirk’s funeral next week.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump and officials in his administration as they prepare to honor Charlie Kirk posthumously.
- For God’s comfort for Charlie Kirk’s family, particularly his wife and children, in the wake of his assassination.
- For the Lord to draw the hearts of Americans to Jesus Christ and heal the deep divisions in the United States.
