President Donald Trump is discussing the ongoing war in Ukraine with European leaders. The president is considering a “second phase“ of sanctions against Russia as that nation has continued its attacks on Ukraine. On a conference call last week, he urged European leaders to stop purchasing Russian oil, which has supported Russia’s ability to continue its attacks.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said, “We are prepared to increase pressure on Russia, but we need our European partners to follow us.”
Russia struck a thermal nuclear power plant in Kyiv with “massive shelling“ over the weekend, which resulted in blackouts around the region.
“I am not thrilled with what’s happening there, I will tell you,“ President Trump said. “I believe we’re going to get it settled, but I am not happy with [Russia]. I’m not happy with anything having to do with that war. It’s such a waste of great humanity.” He said he expects to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin “soon.“
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump to seek God’s direction as he tries to bring an end to the war in Ukraine.
- For the president and members of his administration as they discuss options for leverage against Russia.
- For Secretary Rubio and diplomats of the State Department as they meet with counterparts and heads of state.
