President Announces U.S. Space Command Move from Colorado to Alabama

The decision is a return to the determination made during his first term.

President Donald Trump announced this week that the headquarters of U.S. Space Command will move from Colorado to Alabama. The relocation is a return to the determination made during the first term of President Trump, which reverses the decision made by President Biden’s administration.

President Trump stated, “I am thrilled to report that the U.S. Space Command headquarters will move to the beautiful locale of a place called Huntsville, Alabama — forever to be known, from this point forward, as ROCKET CITY.”

President Trump had initially ordered the relocation of Space Command in the final year of his first term, which was operating out of Colorado Springs. A review by President Biden’s administration of the proposed move to Huntsville, Alabama, published by the Pentagon’s Inspector General in 2023, found that U.S. Air Force officials preferred Alabama for its reduced “cost to the taxpayer,” while U.S. Space Command leadership prioritized the operational readiness of remaining in Colorado. Some other supporters of the relocation cited NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center and the aerospace/defense industry that are in Huntsville.

While reducing costs was a likely factor in President Trump’s decision to resurrect the Space Command move, he indicated that the state’s support of mail-in voting contributed to the decision to move it out of Colorado.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the Lord to guide President Trump in all his decisions and actions.
  • For wisdom for the president and officials in his administration as they seek to defend U.S. interests in space.
