The apostles said to the Lord, ‘Increase our faith!’ – Luke 17:5
A 2004 documentary film follows a 30-day period during which the film’s subject ate only at McDonald’s. Three times a day, he would eat there, eventually eating every item on the menu at least once. As part of the premise, when it was offered to him, he accepted the invitation to Supersize his meal, but he did not request it on his own. The documentary, called “Supersize Me,” showed that he gained 24 pounds, his cholesterol increased, and he experienced mood swings, while fat accumulated in his liver. It took more than a year for him to lose the weight he had gained in one month. Six weeks after the film’s debut, McDonald’s discontinued its supersize portions.
Unlike fast food, when you “supersize“ your intake of God’s Word it brings monumental benefits. Increasing your daily intake of spiritual food strengthens your belief in His truth, your ability to walk by faith, and your aptitude to encourage others. As “baby Christians,“ the Lord instructs new believers to “long for the pure spiritual milk” that is found in the Bible (1 Peter 2:2). Just as humans mature physically, so as you grow in faith you need to take in more solid food, studying to be able to teach others (2 Timothy 2:15; Hebrews 5:14). Paul admonished the believers in Corthinth regarding their need to mature (1 Corinthians 3:2). Supersizing your intake of God’s Word nourishes your soul.
As part of your daily diet of Bible reading, pause and listen for what the Lord is telling you. Then prepare to share with others what God is doing in your life. Pray for God’s truth to prevail across the nation. “Thy Word is truth” (John 17:17, KJV).

Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.
4 The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
6 for the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.
