Some were suspended without pay, pressured to resign or retire by the previous administration.
The Department of Justice has come to an agreement with 10 FBI agents who were disciplined by former President Biden’s administration for questioning COVID-19 vaccine mandates or whistleblower activity. The agents experienced suspensions of pay, revoked security clearances, and pressure to resign or retire early.
Federal Agent Garrett O’Boyle, who was suspended after accessing files for whistleblower testimony to Congress, said, “My oath did not include sacrificing the hopes, dreams, and livelihood of my family.”
Agent Stephen Friend told Congress he had opposed, through a protected whistleblower disclosure, the use of a SWAT team to arrest a January 6 defendant on a misdemeanor charge over concerns for public and personnel safety. He testified that his superiors “cautioned that despite my exemplary work performance, whistleblowing placed my otherwise bright future with the FBI at risk.” He had to resign after being indefinitely suspended without pay.
Three agents have been reinstated to FBI duty under the agreement with the Justice Department. The remaining seven have been allowed to voluntarily retire and receive back pay. Other whistleblower retaliation cases are still outstanding.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Attorney General Bondi and Justice Department officials to be prudent as they assess cases that remain from the prior administration.
- For Director Patel to receive God’s guidance as he heads the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
