Without faith it is impossible to please him. – Hebrews 11:6
The people listed in Hebrews chapter 11 were not perfect. For instance, Abraham made some wrong choices. His conduct toward Hagar, on two occasions, was painful. His departure from Canaan into Egypt during the famine was not an act of faith. Abraham also lied twice regarding his relationship with his wife, Sarah. However, Abraham so loved Yahweh that he was willing to give up the son of God’s promise. He was willing to surrender the seen for the unseen.
As an Old Testament character, Abraham was not saved based on his perfect life but by his faith in his Heavenly Father’s promises. He knew, without the revelation later given in the New Testament, that the Lord had promised to bless him, he believed that promise, and he was justified because of that belief. Abraham was saved by grace through faith.
God has always saved His people by the gift of His grace and through faith. Faith works like a rope. He lowers it down to people, enabling them to firmly grasp it and hold on tight until they join Him in Heaven. And though their grip on faith may loosen, His grip will not.
Remember, you cannot live the life of faith through your own efforts, despite how hard you try. Your hope for victory, power, and fruitfulness lies solely in trusting Christ to live His resurrection life in and through you. It is your belief, not your efforts, that pleases Him. The result of your faith produces good works. So, draw close to the Savior today. As you pray, ask Him to draw the hearts of America’s leaders so that their lives glorify Him.

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son, 18 of whom it was said, “Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.” 19 He considered that God was able even to raise him from the dead, from which, figuratively speaking, he did receive him back.
