ICE detained him after last week’s release and was processing his deportation to Uganda.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained Kilmar Abrego Garcia after he was briefly released last week, but District Judge Paula Xinis ordered that he remain in the U.S. at an emergency hearing. The judge will hold an evidentiary hearing, stating that the federal government was “absolutely forbidden at this juncture to remove Mr. Abrego Garcia from the continental United States.”
The Justice Department attorney agreed to the delay, since “third country removals often take some time.”
Abrego Garcia was mistakenly deported by President Trump’s administration in March, and was held at the high-security prison in El Salvador, which a U.S. Senator visited to check on the Salvadoran’s well-being.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced that Abrego Garcia is being processed for deportation. “President Trump is not going to allow this illegal alien, who is an MS-13 gang member, human trafficker, serial domestic abuser, and child predator to terrorize American citizens any longer,” the DHS secretary stated.
Since Garcia did not accept the administration’s plea deal to deport him to Costa Rica, ICE was preparing to deport him to Uganda, which has agreed to take deportees as long as they are not unaccompanied minors.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For district and appellate court judges to uphold all federal statutes, including immigration laws.
- For Secretary Noem to seek God’s direction as she heads the Department of Homeland Security and oversees efforts to deport violent criminal aliens.
- For Acting Director Todd Lyons as he manages ICE operations and the enforcement of federal immigration laws.
- For the safety of ICE and other federal agents as they seek to remove violent illegal immigrants from the U.S.
