Hurricane Erin Veers Away from North Carolina Coast

Hurricaine
National Hurricane Center says that the storm is still producing dangerous waves and currents.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported Thursday that Hurricane Erin has begun moving away from the North Carolina coast, though it warned beachgoers against swimming as the hurricane departs. Though the winds and rain have departed, the large Category 2 storm will continue to kick up “life-threatening” surf and rip currents. Beach and coast erosion also remains a present threat.

“Erin will continue to produce life-threatening surf and rip currents along the beaches of the Bahamas, much of the east coast of the U.S., Bermuda, and Atlantic Canada during the next several days,” the NHC said in a discussion on the storm. “Beachgoers in those areas should follow advice from lifeguards, local authorities, and beach warning flags.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the National Hurricane Center as it tracks the storms that reach America.
  • That the work of federal meteorologists kept Americans safe as Hurricane Erin made landfall.
  • For the administration as it supports and funds the scientists that work to monitor natural disasters and protect the country.
