The Justice Department requested voice mails, emails, text messages, and agreements, including informed consent and patient intakes.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) subpoenaed the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in June, requesting information on patients who received any kind of treatment for gender dysphoria.
The treatments covered by the subpoena included hormone therapy, puberty blockers, or gender transition surgery provided to minors. The subpoena also required the hospital to send the Justice Department all voice mails, emails, text messages, and agreements sent to and signed by parents for informed consent and patient intake dated after January 2020.
“Medical professionals and organizations that mutilated children in the service of a warped ideology will be held accountable by this Department of Justice,” Attorney General Pam Bondi stated.
Transgender advocates have opposed this subpoena, saying that governmental access to confidential patient information, which includes names, dates of birth, and social security numbers, is an invasion of privacy.
