She says the decision will protect children and “serve humanity.”
President Donald Trump shared a letter on Sunday that First Lady Melania Trump had written to Russian President Vladimir Putin. President Trump handed the letter to President Putin personally after arriving in Alaska to hold a summit discussing the possibility of ending Russia’s attacks on Ukraine. The first lady did not travel to Alaska with the president.
Melania Trump’s letter didn’t specifically mention the Ukraine war, but urged the Russian president to protect the innocence of children and foster peace. In doing so, “you will do more than serve Russia alone — you serve humanity itself,” she wrote. President Trump said that the first lady’s letter was “well received“ by President Putin.
No ceasefire was reached after the Friday summit, but President Trump called it an “extremely productive conversation,” adding that both he and President Putin agreed to skip over a ceasefire agreement to craft a full peace agreement. While Ukrainian officials were not present during the discussions, President Zelensky met with President Trump at the White House on Monday.
President Zelensky gave President Trump a letter from the Ukrainian first lady for First Lady Melania Trump. He said his wife was very touched by Mrs. Trump’s “peace letter“ to President Putin.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the first lady as she advocates for children in the U.S. and around the globe.
- For the president and members of his administration as they seek peace in Ukraine and other war-torn regions.
