Following President Donald Trump’s summit meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15th, President Trump is expected to continue working with European leaders and heads of state on a peaceful resolution to the war between Russia and Ukraine.
As part of the ongoing negotiations, President Trump will welcome Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the White House on Monday, August 18th. The two are expected to discuss ways to reach an end to the three-and-a-half-year conflict. In previous meetings, President Trump called for a ceasefire between the two nations, but following his meeting with President Putin, President Trump said, “It was determined by all that the best way to end the horrific war between Russia and Ukraine is to go directly to a peace agreement, which would end the war, and not a mere ceasefire agreement, which often times do not hold up.”
