Mexico Transfers 26 Suspected Cartel Leaders to U.S.

The Justice Department has agreed not to seek the death penalty.

The United States and Mexico announced that the latter nation agreed to transfer 26 suspected drug cartel leaders to the U.S. These suspects face charges in both countries related to drug trafficking, kidnapping, human smuggling, and the illegal use of firearms.

“These 26 men have all played a role in bringing violence and drugs to American shores – under this Department of Justice, they will face severe consequences for their crimes against this country,” Attorney General Pam Bondi stated. “We are grateful to Mexico’s National Security team for their collaboration in this matter.”

Mexico’s Secretary of Security and Civilian Protection Omar Garcia Harfuch stated on social media that the two countries finalized this deal “in bilateral coordination and with full respect for [Mexican] sovereignty.”

Mexico agreed to the transfer after President Donald Trump ordered the Defense Department to begin using the military against Latin American drug cartels designated as terrorist organizations.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Attorney General Bondi and officials in the Justice Department as they seek to hold cartel members and leaders accountable.
  • For President Trump, Secretary Rubio, and other U.S. leaders as they address the opioid crisis in the U.S.
