The enthusiastic salesman at the state fair booth stood behind a case of sparkling jewels of all shapes, sizes, and colors. “They’re genuine simulated gemstones, very fine, exquisite,” he exclaimed. He had a jeweler’s loupe sitting on a black velvet pad, and would extract one of his “jewels” from the case, hold it up, and check out its magnification. “It’s perfect. How excellent!” he gushed. But the phrase still stuck—genuine simulated. Real fake!
How’s your faith in Jesus Christ today? Are you walking confidently with Him on a daily basis? Or does your love for Him wax and wane along with your inner joy and your praise for Him? Are you authentic? Or are you simulated? You and He know the answer.
Peter states in today’s verse that when your faith is real, you praise and honor and glorify the Lord just for the privilege of knowing Him in your life. And, yes, that is just as true when you are enduring trials – when you are being refined! When you still praise the Lord in your darkest hours, then you know you aren’t some fake jewel, but you are the real thing!
Intercede for the believers in positions of power in Washington to be quick to give praise and honor and glory to Jesus Christ.
