Says grants will be revoked without “full cooperation” with federal immigration agents
Attorney General Pam Bondi wrote a letter to California Governor Gavin Newsom this week threatening to revoke federal funding grants to California if the state continues its refusal to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement operations.
California has maintained a number of “sanctuary” policies, protecting illegal immigrants from deportation from the United States. President Trump’s administration has warned all states that maintain sanctuary policies, harboring dangerous criminals in metropolitan areas, in opposition to federal immigration laws.
“Under President Trump’s leadership, full cooperation by state and local governments in immigration enforcement efforts is a top priority,” Attorney General Bondi wrote. “For too long, so-called sanctuary jurisdiction policies have undermined this necessary cooperation and obstructed federal immigration enforcement.”
The attorney general concluded, “As contemplated by the Executive Order, designation as a sanctuary jurisdiction may result in additional consequences and further agency actions as permitted by law.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for the attorney general as she urges states and cities to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement.
- For President Trump and members of his administration as they pursue the removal of violent criminal illegal aliens from the homeland.
