Fort Bliss service member accused of passing sensitive M1A2 Abrams data and hardware
The Department of Justice announced the arrest of an active-duty U.S. Army soldier for allegedly attempting to send national defense information to Russia and exporting controlled technical data without authorization. Private First Class Taylor Adam Lee, 22, of El Paso, Texas, who was stationed at Fort Bliss with a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information clearance, is accused of offering assistance to the Russian Ministry of Defense between May and July 2025, sharing export-controlled M1A2 Abrams tank details online, and meeting in person with someone he believed represented the Russian government.
He allegedly provided an SD card containing technical documents and operational details about U.S. armored vehicles, some of which were sensitive or classified. The FBI’s Washington and El Paso Field Offices, along with the Army Counterintelligence Command, led the investigation. Lee is also alleged to have obtained a component from the M1A2 Abrams tank and delivered it to a storage unit in El Paso on July 31, 2025, and then sent a “Mission accomplished” message.
“The National Security Division will continue to work with our law enforcement and military partners to ensure that such serious transgressions are met with serious consequences,” said Assistant Attorney General for National Security John Eisenberg.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Assistant Attorney General Eisenberg as he oversees the case against the Army private for espionage.
- For Secretary Driscoll and U.S. Army officials as they seek to ensure the classified information of the service branch is protected by those with top secret clearance.
- For Private Lee as he faces the charges of attempting to undermine U.S. national defense.
