The attorney general responded that disrespect for government law enforcement by federal employees will not be tolerated.
As federal law enforcement continues to operate collaboratively with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro responded to the actions of a man who yelled expletives at a federal agent before he threw a sub sandwich at the agent and ran away. The man was tackled by officers and is facing assault charges.
Attorney Pirro stated on Wednesday, “We charged him with a felony – assault on a police officer. And we’re going to back the police to the hilt.“
On Thursday, Attorney General Pamela Bondi announced that the defendant in the case, who had been an international affairs specialist in the Office of International Affairs of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, was fired.
AG Bondi stated, “If you touch any law enforcement officer, we will come after you. I just learned that this defendant worked at the Department of Justice — NO LONGER. Not only is he FIRED, he has been charged with a felony. This is an example of the Deep State we have been up against for seven months as we work to refocus DOJ. You will NOT work in this administration while disrespecting our government and law enforcement.“
Law enforcement officials have arrested more than 100 people since President Trump directed the Justice Department to take temporary control of the Metropolitan Police Department.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Attorney General Bondi and U.S. Attorney Pirro as they seek to uphold federal law in the District of Columbia.
- For police officers and federal agents as they work together to reduce crime in the nation’s capital.
