Secretary Doug Burgum committed the Park Police to crime reduction efforts as part of President Donald Trump’s invocation of the Home Rule Act for temporary federal control of Washington, D.C..

The Interior secretary relayed that park officers are behind the president’s action. He said, “They are so pleased, the rank and file. President Trump is now allowing them to enforce the law.”
President Trump said of the 30-day federalization of law enforcement, “We will have full, seamless, integrated cooperation at all levels of law enforcement, and will deploy officers across the district with an overwhelming presence.”
While media outlets have maintained that crime in the District of Columbia has fallen to historic lows, the data these claims are founded on has excluded certain criminal activity. A D.C. police commander was suspended last month for manipulating crime statistics.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the Lord to guide President Trump as he seeks to uphold law and order in D.C. and around the nation.
- For Secretary Burgum to be discerning in his management of the Department of the Interior and its many agencies and offices.
- For safety and strength for the Park Police and the Metropolitan Police Department as they work together.
