See, I Told You!

Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?  – John 11:40

Have you ever shared some little-known information with friends or family members, only to be met with skepticism? When it later proved to be true, how likely were you to say, “See, I told you!“ In today’s verse, Jesus reminded His friend, Martha, that her faith was a key to realizing what was going on around her.

Miracles were happening, and Martha had a place in what Jesus was doing. She was chosen to be a witness. She could testify firsthand that her brother Lazarus was raised to life out of his tomb. She knew without a shadow of a doubt he was truly dead, four days to be exact. Then Jesus called Lazarus’ name, and he was alive again. People might say she was crazy, but she knew the truth.

Could God be preparing you to be a witness of His miraculous work? Consider for a moment the greatest struggle in your life. It may be hard to see past the pain, but within that difficulty lies the seeds of a great blessing from God.

You can be a witness of glory rather than a victim of circumstance. While both involve dark days, Jesus has already told you, if you will believe in God’s mercy and power, you WILL see Him work.

Pray for public servants in the United States to come to faith in Christ. Ask that many will experience His blessing and be faithful witnesses to it. Consider your place in what God is doing today. Like Martha, tell the story of His glory and what you see Him do.

Today’s Verse:   John 11:40

Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?”

7 everyone who is called by my name,
whom I created for my glory,
    whom I formed and made.”
Bring out the people who are blind, yet have eyes,
who are deaf, yet have ears!
All the nations gather together,
    and the peoples assemble.
Who among them can declare this,
and show us the former things?
Let them bring their witnesses to prove them right,
and let them hear and say, It is true.
10 “You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord,
“and my servant whom I have chosen,
that you may know and believe me
and understand that I am he.
Before me no god was formed,
nor shall there be any after me.
11 I, I am the Lord,
and besides me there is no savior.
