Cambodia Nominates President Trump for Nobel Peace Prize

The prime minister said it is “but one example of President Trump’s exceptional achievements in de-escalating tensions.“

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet announced last week that he nominated President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, thanking the U.S. president for his “extraordinary statesmanship” after successfully de-escalating tensions between Cambodia and Thailand.

Tensions between Cambodia and Thailand were mounting as a border dispute grew more severe, leading to a five-day conflict that resulted in 43 deaths and 300,000 displaced citizens. President Trump called both nations on July 26, which successfully ended a deadlock in negotiations and led to a ceasefire agreement on July 28.

“This timely intervention, which averted a potentially devastating conflict, was vital in preventing a great loss of lives and paved the way towards the restoration of peace,” Prime Minister Manet wrote in his letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for President Trump as he pursues peace agreements between warring international factions.
  • For U.S. officials as they prepare for the summit between Presidents Trump and Putin in Alaska.
