FCC Votes to Remove “Outdated and Useless“ Rules

The provisions to be deleted include regulations related to telegraph, rabbit-ear broadcast receivers, and telephone booths.

The Federal Communications Commission has voted to remove “outdated and useless“ rules that regulate telegraph, rabbit-ear television receivers, and telephone booths.

Chairman Brendan Carr stated, “When I announced my ‘Build America Agenda,’ I said that outdated and unnecessary regulations from Washington often derail efforts to build high-speed networks and infrastructure across the country. That is why delivering on the agenda’s core objectives will require implementing smart policies while carrying out a massive deregulation initiative. We are doing so through our In Re: Delete, Delete, Delete proceeding—the largest deregulatory effort in FCC history.”

Under the authority of the Administrative Procedure Act, “the Commission can forgo the usual prior notice and public comment period before repealing the rules for these bygone regulations,” the FCC chairman explained.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Chairman Carr and the commissioners of the FCC as they review and assess regulations that are no longer relevant to the nation.
  • For the president and members of his administration as they pursue reductions in the regulation of sectors and industries.
