The president’s administration continues to reduce green energy projects while boosting oil, gas, and coal.
The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management began canceling 3.5 million acres worth of offshore wind energy projects last week, as part of the administration’s goal to reduce investments in green energy projects. President Donald Trump began this effort the same month he took office, passing a number of executive orders promoting oil, gas, and coal production within the first weeks of his second term.
The cancellation of the offshore wind lease sales off the coasts of Texas, Louisiana, Maine, New York, California, and Oregon is part of a larger focus of the Department of the Interior to review solar and wind energy projects.
Last month, President Trump signed an executive order requiring every subsidy for green energy to be reviewed and approved by Interior Secretary Doug Burgum. The order was part of a compromise with members of the president’s party who were dissatisfied over the One Big Beautiful Bill not immediately ending subsidies for “clean“ energy.
Acting Assistant Secretary Adam Suess for Land and Minerals Management said, “American energy dominance is driven by U.S.-based production of reliable baseload energy, not regulatory favoritism towards unreliable energy projects that are solely dependent on taxpayer subsidies and foreign-sourced equipment.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump and officials in his administration as they pursue stable energy and power sources.
- For discernment for Secretary Burgum as he reviews proposed solar and wind energy subsidies.
- For Acting Assistant Secretary Suess as he oversees Land and Minerals Management.
