So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. – Romans 10:17
Headline news can be discouraging and, depending on who writes it, the slant of it can vary closer or further from the facts. Journalists sometimes describe current events in such a dire way that it can create fear in one’s mind… if you let it. If you listen only to the words of men, fear can take over. Your mission, then, is to filter the news through the Word of God.
Commentator Matthew Henry calls the Bible “the word of faith.” Hearing and meditating on it will cultivate and nourish your faith. You will learn to trust the Lord more and more in all aspects of your life because His Word is truth.
There are many today who miss the truth that God is real and truly cares for them. Looking at Romans 15:13-15, God sends preachers and teachers so people hear and learn His Word. What one hears impacts their faith. When you magnify the Good News over current events, you strengthen your belief in the reality of the Lord’s love and power. That belief motivates you to call on Him and share His message of hope with others. Scripture says that God sent Jesus into the world that “the world might be saved through Him” (John 3:17).
Pray for this nation and its public servants to know God’s truth and receive wisdom to make the right decisions. Now is the time to listen to the Lord, Beloved. Be courageous in standing for your faith and telling others of the hope they, too, can experience in knowing Christ as their Lord and Savior. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, will be fulfilling, strengthening, and encouraging.

The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
2 Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
7 The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is sure,
making wise the simple;
8 the precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes;
9 the fear of the Lord is clean,
enduring forever;
the rules of the Lord are true,
and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold,
even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey
and drippings of the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.
