Microsoft has revised its cloud services practices to no longer allow China-based engineers to provide technical support for Microsoft cloud services used by the U.S. Defense Department. This decision was made a few days after a news outlet published an extensive report revealing how extensively the Defense Department utilizes Microsoft Azure, the company’s cloud service, and the technical engineers who provide Azure support services.

“In response to concerns raised earlier this week about US-supervised foreign engineers, Microsoft has made changes to our support for US Government customers to assure that no China-based engineering teams are providing technical assistance for DoD Government cloud and related services,” stated Frank Shaw, Microsoft’s chief communications officer.

Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas, chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, had written Defense Secretary Hegseth regarding the program after the article was released, requesting information on the contractor and subcontractor who maintain or serve U.S. defense systems.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Hegseth to be led by the Lord as he seeks to prevent China from infiltrating defense systems.
  • For Senator Cotton as he heads the Senate Intelligence Committee and requests information to ensure national security.
