Education Department to Release $1.3 Billion in After-School Program Funding

The decision was announced after senators send a letter requesting release of funding.

The Education Department recently announced that it will release $1.3 billion in funding for a number of state after-school programs. On July 1, President Trump’s administration froze more than $6 billion in grant money for after-school and summer programs for youth and adults to ensure federal spending aligned with the president’s goals.

Two days before the announcement of the funding release, 10 senators wrote a joint letter to the Education Department, urging federal leaders to unfreeze the funding already allocated by Congress.

“We share your concern about taxpayer money going to fund radical left-wing programs,” the senators wrote to the Office of Management and Budget. “However, we do not believe that is happening with these funds.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary McMahon to seek God’s guidance as she manages the Department of Education.
  • For wisdom for President Trump and officials in his administration as they seek to ensure efficient use of taxpayer funds.
