Venezuela Releases U.S. Citizens In Exchange for Prisoners in El Salvador

Secretary Rubio expresses gratitude to El Salvador for facilitating the release of hundreds of prisoners from its high-security prison.

Venezuela recently organized an exchange of 10 U.S. citizens imprisoned in its country for 250 Venezuelan migrant criminals sent to El Salvador’s high-security prison by President Trump’s administration.

“Every wrongfully detained American in Venezuela is now free and back in our homeland,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated, thanking Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele for facilitating the exchange.

This situation benefits the governments of all three involved countries. It is a diplomatic achievement for Venezuela, President Trump’s administration furthered its goal of obtaining the release of U.S. citizens imprisoned abroad, and El Salvador is credited with proposing such an exchange earlier this year.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for Secretary of State Rubio as efforts to release Americans from foreign prisons continue.
  • For President Trump to seek God’s guidance as he engages with foreign leaders.
