President Trump Announces Trade Deal with Japan

The agreement comes with $550 billion in investments in the United States and a 15 percent tariff on Japanese goods.

President Donald Trump announced that a trade deal was reached with Japan in which tariffs will be reduced to 15 percent, and $550 billion will be invested in the United States.

President Trump stated, “We just completed a massive Deal with Japan, perhaps the largest Deal ever made. Japan will invest, at my direction, $550 Billion Dollars into the United States, which will receive 90% of the Profits.“

He continued, “This Deal will create Hundreds of Thousands of Jobs… Perhaps most importantly, Japan will open their Country to Trade including Cars and Trucks, Rice and certain other Agricultural Products, and other things.“

The president concluded, “Japan will pay Reciprocal Tariffs to the United States of 15%. This is a very exciting time for the United States of America, and especially for the fact that we will continue to always have a great relationship with the Country of Japan.“

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick reported that the August 1 trade deal deadline is “firm.“ Tariffs of 25 percent or more will be imposed on most goods imported into the U.S. from countries that have not yet made agreements. President Trump also made an agreement earlier this week with Philippine President Marcos for 19 percent tariffs, similar to the deal made with Indonesia last week.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump to be led by the Lord as he seeks to improve the U.S. economy and correct trade imbalances with global partners.
  • For Secretaries Lutnick and Bessent to be discerning as they participate in negotiations and discussions over trade.
