President Donald Trump will discuss trade, defense, and security with Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., at the White House today. The president and members of his trade team have secured deals with Vietnam and Indonesia as negotiations continue with Japan and South Korea.

The United States holds joint military drills with the Philippines regularly to both prepare for and dissuade a potential attack on Taiwan by China. Defense Secretary Hegseth said during his visit to Manila in the spring, “Together, we must forge a strong shield of real deterrence for peace.“

Today is the deadline of the 180 days that President Trump’s executive order allotted for action plans related to artificial intelligence. The president is expected to announce his administration’s policies surrounding AI standards in research and development, resources, and technology. The president’s order outlined his vision for American “global AI dominance in order to promote human flourishing, economic competitiveness, and national security.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for President Trump as he discusses regional security and trade with the Philippine president.
  • For members of the president’s cabinet to be prudent as they prepare and submit AI action plans.
  • For senators and representatives as they consider appropriations and other legislation today.
