The FBI previously investigated the impersonation of other federal officials, including the White House chief of staff.
The State Department is investigating an imposter who used artificial intelligence to impersonate Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s voice, including leaving voicemails for foreign ministers.
The department report said the imposter “contacted at least five non-Department individuals, including three foreign ministers, a U.S. governor, and a U.S. member of Congress.”
In May, the Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted a probe into the impersonation of federal officials. In particular, senators, governors, U.S. business executives, and others received texts and calls from someone claiming to be White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles after her contact list was hacked.
“The FBI takes all threats against the president, his staff, and our cybersecurity with the utmost seriousness,” Director Kash Patel stated. “Safeguarding our administration officials’ ability to securely communicate to accomplish the president’s mission is a top priority.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For White House officials as they seek to secure their information and ensure cyber security.
- For State Department personnel and Secretary Rubio as they seek measures to protect identity and communication.
- For FBI Director Patel and agents as they work to identify the impersonators of members of the president’s administration.
