Confidence and Comfort

Since we have such a hope, we are very bold. – 2 Corinthians 3:12

Many people suffer from anxiety and apprehension. Anxiety comes from the Latin word “angustia” meaning “narrowness.” An overly anxious person is often focused on the minute details of a situation, possibly missing the bigger picture.

For example, sin has temporarily captured God’s creation, and the world is at odds with Him until all things are restored. Those who focus on what is broken here on Earth will find their minds filled with the terrible evidence of that truth. However, Jesus offers another way of living. When angelic beings announced His birth, they referred to Him as “Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). When you decide to look to Christ as Savior and follow Him through life, you can enjoy the fruits of His peacefulness in both heart and mind, even amidst a world in chaos.

The hope of Jesus is not based on positive thinking, but is grounded in the reality of His sufficient strength. “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence” (2 Peter 1:3). If you are a follower of Christ today, then you have what you need to navigate challenging days with assurance. Pray for those who serve in halls of government, churches, and homes across the United States, that they look beyond their fears and place their trust in heaven’s Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ, receiving comfort and confidence in Him.

23 Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me.
25 “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
