He blocked the implementation as the case proceeds.
District Judge James Donato blocked the implementation of President Donald Trump’s executive order to eliminate collective bargaining for federal workers. He ruled last week that President Donald Trump’s executive order was likely unlawful.
Judge Donato wrote a 29-page opinion along with his decision, saying that the executive order threatens a “long-standing status quo” enacted by the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978. The judge suggested that the executive order was enacted because federal unions “appear to have been deemed hostile to the President.”
President Trump signed his executive order in April, with the Office of Personnel Management quickly directing federal agencies to terminate their collective bargaining agreements through a following memo. At the time, the White House argued that the Civil Service Reform Act, which allowed government workers to unionize, “enables hostile Federal unions to obstruct agency management.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump as he and his administration officials work to improve federal spending and government efficiency.
- For federal judges to be prudent in their rulings and decisions regarding constitutionality and the separation of powers.
