DOJ Sues Los Angeles for Obstructing Federal Immigration Enforcement

Congressman Kiley commends the action taken against the sanctuary policies that “interfere with the operations of the federal government.”

The Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit over the Los Angeles Ordinance Number 188441, called the “Prohibition of the Use of City Resources for Federal Immigration Enforcement,” that Mayor Karen Bass signed into law.

The DOJ’s filing against the City of Los Angeles, Mayor Bass, and City Council President Harris-Dawson brings three charges of obstructing and discriminating against federal authorities in violation of federal statute “8 U.S.C. §§ 1373, 8 U.S.C. § 1373(a), and1644 by forbidding LAPD and other law enforcement officers and officials from communicating with ICE or CBP regarding a detainee’s citizenship or immigration status.”

Representative Kevin Kiley of California said, I think that the lawsuit is encouraging, because, when you just look at what’s going on here, you have a state policy, and in the case of LA, a city policy, that’s whole purpose is to interfere with the operations of the federal government, pursuant to the policies of a duly enacted president, which is not the way our system works.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Attorney General Pam Bondi to be led by the Lord as she heads the DOJ.
  • For state and city governing officials to uphold and adhere to federal laws.
  • For God’s mercy and grace to continue to hold the United States together.
