In addition to ending DOD and USAID contracts, the agency announced phone and communication system upgrades.
The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has continued in its mission to reduce waste and save taxpayers money. The agency announced the termination of 312 wasteful contracts totaling $2.8 billion from the Defense Department and USAID.
The agency reported progress on the modernization of the National Weather Service’s Weather Radio system from copper wiring, which requires roughly $118,000 per month for maintenance, to wireless. The Small Business Administration is also upgrading phone lines, deactivating unused lines, and eliminating unnecessary licenses, which DOGE estimates will save $2.84 million annually.
DOGE commended the General Services Administration for its implementation of the “Radical Transparency about Wasteful Spending“ for progress on active contracts including whether or not a contract has closed.
Doge stated, “Previously, modifications were limited to vague termination and cancellation actions. This update has been sent government-wide to all agency Senior Procurement Executives for immediate adoption.“
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For DOGE officials and personnel as they continue efforts to reduce waste and increase efficiency in the federal government.
- For members of Congress to be prudent as they assess the appropriations to fund government agencies.
