A Legacy of Faith, Creativity, and Dedication
Dear Members,
It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that Peggy, a cherished member of our prayer ministry, is in hospice care as of July 1. For the last several months, Peggy bravely battled cancer, but the toll on her body has finally become too great.
When Peggy started with us in 2007, she began in our mail room, accepting donations and responding to member’s letters. We soon discovered she was a hidden gem. She was a talented Christian fiction writer and quickly joined our staff as a writer. She went on to become our head writer and editor for our daily devotions. With a strategic mind, she spearheaded many of the ideas and initiatives that have shaped the direction of our prayer team.
You may not be aware of the blessed impact that Peggy had on the prayer team, but this was by design. As she began writing more, Peggy believed that her name as an author should be omitted from devotions to better connect the reader with the message. She hoped that God would use her as a vessel behind the scenes to bring His glory and encouragement to our nation. Soon, other writers followed suit. She shaped a culture of laying down personal recognition for the praise and glory of God.
If you were with us for any length of time, you have likely read hundreds, if not thousands, of her Vantage Point devotionals, prayer articles, and other written works. As she prayerfully approached each topic, even weeks in advance of publication, God regularly placed something important on Peggy’s heart with such precision that, on the day of publication, it perfectly aligned with breaking headlines and the needs of our community.
For over 15 years, members reached out almost daily to express gratitude for how her devotionals have touched them or helped them. One of her last devotionals aptly referenced 2 Timothy 2:15, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”
Celebrate Peggy’s legacy with us, one of unwavering faith, creativity, and dedication. Share a story or message of how the daily devotionals have touched you. Your words and prayers will be a source of comfort and encouragement to Peggy and her family in her final days.
