President Trump Visits “Alligator Alcatraz”

The Florida site was formerly used to stage emergency response equipment and vehicles.

President Donald Trump toured the new Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainment facility, nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz,” in the heart of the Florida Everglades on Tuesday. The 39-acre Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport has been repurposed to temporarily house criminal migrants awaiting deportation. Governor Ron DeSantis announced the quick construction that has gone into the area, which has previously been used for staging emergency equipment and vehicles.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “There is only one road leading in and the only way out is a one-way flight. It is isolated, and surrounded by dangerous wildlife in unforgiving terrain.”

Governor DeSantis declared that detainees “ain’t going anywhere once they’re there, unless you want them to go somewhere. Because good luck getting to civilization. So the security is amazing — natural and otherwise.”

The site includes laundry facilities, air conditioning, and medical care. However, it is surrounded by a treacherous landscape far from civilization.

“It presents an efficient, low-cost opportunity to build a temporary detention facility because you don’t need to invest that much in the perimeter,” Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier said of Alligator Alcatraz. “If people get out, there’s not much waiting for them other than alligators and pythons.”

The funding for the detention center partly comes from the FEMA fund that former President Biden’s administration used to house immigrants in hotels.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump and Secretary Noem as they pursue deportation of criminal migrants.
  • For Governor DeSantis and federal and state law enforcement as they facilitate the removal of violent illegal aliens.
  • For wisdom for U.S. officials as they seek to improve national security and community law and order.
