He will discuss the recent Operation Midnight Hammer and the leaked low-confidence assessment on the damages to that nation’s nuclear sites. The president will also report progress on trade agreements and the amounts coming in from tariffs.
Members of the Senate have begun debate on the “Big Beautiful Bill“ to fund President Trump’s agenda. The measure seeks to make tax cuts from his first term permanent and strengthen border security among other provisions.
The State Department has implemented new visa restrictions in response to the fentanyl crisis. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said, “The fentanyl crisis in the United States is unprecedented, with overdoses remaining the leading cause of death for Americans ages 18 to 44. More than 40 percent of Americans reportedly know someone who has died from an opioid overdose, and in 2024 the United States averaged over 220 overdose deaths daily.“
