The event took place in New Mexico with female athletes and advocates.
U.S. Education Secretary Linda McMahon participated in the “Her Game, Her Legacy” event in Santa Fe, New Mexico, this week to celebrate the anniversary of the “Title IX of the Education Amendments Act” which passed on June 23, 1972. Secretary McMahon spoke about the importance of the effort to protect educational opportunities for girls and women under the federal civil rights law that prohibits sex-based discrimination at schools receiving federal funding..
“We’re honoring the 53rd anniversary of Title IX and the incredible resilience of female athletes who are standing up and pushing back against the harms of gender ideology,“ Secretary McMahon said. “The Trump Administration is putting a stop to the madness that was allowed under the previous administration.”
She added, “Thank you to the athletes, parents, and advocates who are fighting alongside us. We will not let up, and we will not let you down.”
The original venue canceled its contract to host the event roughly 24 hours ahead of time, stating it had been misled by the description of the event after news media called it a “partisan political event.“ The celebration for athletes and families was moved to a different location with help from the hotel manager where event attendees were staying.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary McMahon as she advocates for Title IX protections for girls and womens’ sports.
- For U.S. Education Department officials to be discerning in their oversight of federal funding to schools and universities.
