The Northeastern U.S. has experienced an unusually hot start to the summer.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York was rushed to a Washington, D.C., hospital on Wednesday when he became light-headed after a stationary bike workout. The senator was treated for dehydration as the Northeast has experienced a significant heatwave.
A spokesperson for Senator Schumer stated that the hospital visit was taken out of an abundance of caution. The senator went on to attend a press conference on airline safety later that day.
Senator Schumer has enjoyed relatively good health, having only light symptoms when he contracted COVID-19 in 2022 and overcoming a bout of pneumonia in 2016.
