FBI Launches Criminal Investigation into Iran Assessment Leak

The defense secretary said the release of the low-confidence report was intended “to make the president look bad based on a leak.“

At the NATO Summit in the Netherlands on Wednesday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has launched a criminal investigation into the leak of an incomplete assessment that estimated U.S. airstrikes had a low impact on Iran’s nuclear program. President Donald Trump and Israeli officials have described the nuclear facilities as “obliterated.“

Iran’s own Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei stated after the operation, “Our nuclear installations have been badly damaged, that’s for sure.”

While the leaked assessment was authentic, the president’s administration pointed out that the estimate was a snapshot of analysis from a moment in time.

“The Iranian program, the nuclear program today, looks nothing like it did just a week ago,” Secretary Rubio stated. He emphasized that Iran is “much further from a nuclear weapon today than before the president took this bold action.” He said that Operation Midnight Hammer caused “significant, very significant, substantial damage.”

President Trump wrote on social media Wednesday, “Israel just stated that the Nuclear Sites were OBLITERATED! Thank you to our great B-2 pilots, and all others involved!”

“We’re doing a leak investigation with the FBI right now because this information is for internal purposes, battle damage assessments,” Secretary Hegseth said. He added that the press reports are meant “to spin it to try to make the president look bad based on a leak. We’ve all seen plenty of leakers. They have agendas.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump, Secretary Hegseth, and Secretary Rubio to be led by the Lord as they implement foreign policy.
  • For FBI officials as they investigate the leaking of the classified analysis.
