Trust Fearlessly

 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and will not be afraid. – Isaiah 12:2

During the pandemic, there was a lot of talk about the “new normal.” The phrase got a lot of air-time and was indicative of unprecedented conditions in society. Yet the reality of a “new normal“ is what you, as a believer, progressively experience while the Lord is shaping you into His new creation (Mark 2:22; 2 Corinthians 5:17).

The Bible recounts, in the Old Testament, the history of the Hebrew people. Over a thousand years after the time of Abraham, his descendants were living as slaves in Egypt. Even today it is not completely understood how the great pyramids and palaces of that once magnificent culture were built. But it is likely that the subculture of Hebrew forced labor facilitated the scale of the Egyptian glory years.

After being delivered from slavery, they found life in the desert challenging, saying, “Would it not have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness?” (Exodus 14:12). Those ancient wanderers lacked the perspective to comprehend the “new thing“ God was doing (Isaiah 43:19). Their new desert normal could not be measured by their past experiences. The same might be true for you today. As the Lord leads you into experiences that are different and maybe uncomfortable, He knows how He will use these changes to refine you and prepare you as a vessel to carry His gospel message of Hope.

Intercede for U.S. citizens and public officials today as changes are made in government and policy. Pray that the focus of the new norms being established includes a greater trust in God’s Word for those serving in the halls of government, education, healthcare, and law enforcement.

Today’s Verse: Isaiah 12:2

“Behold, God is my salvation;
    I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for the Lord God is my strength and my song,
    and he has become my salvation.”

Oh come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!

For the Lord is a great God,
and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the depths of the earth;
the heights of the mountains are his also.

The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.
Oh come, let us worship and bow down;
let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!

For he is our God,
and we are the people of his pasture,
and the sheep of his hand.
