State Department Implements Social Media Screening for Student Visa Applicants

The president’s administration continues its efforts to quell anti-Semitic protests and demonstrations on college campuses.

The State Department announced new social media screening guidelines for student visa applicants. All applicants will be required to make their social media profiles public for “any indications of hostility towards the citizens, culture, government, institutions or founding principles of the United States.”

U.S. embassies were instructed to notify the State Department if any applicant’s social media accounts contain “advocacy for, aid or support for foreign terrorists and other threats to U.S. national security” and “support for unlawful antisemitic harassment or violence.” Support for the terrorist group Hamas was listed as an example.

This action is in line with the policies of President Trump’s administration to prevent student protesters from supporting terrorists on college campuses, meting out consequences for universities that continue to permit such demonstrations.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary of State Marco Rubio to receive God’s guidance as he heads the State Department.
  • For U.S. embassy officials around the world as they implement the social media review of student visa applicants.
