Negotiators finalize terms but need approval from President Trump and President Xi.
Negotiators from the United States and China announced Wednesday that they have finalized a framework for a trade agreement between the two nations. The agreement was completed after two days of meetings held in London, and now only requires final approval from U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping to take effect.
“The two largest economies in the world have reached a handshake for a framework,” Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated. “We have reached a framework to implement the Geneva consensus and the call between the two presidents.”
President Trump outlined some details on social media, stating, “Full magnets, and any necessary rare earths, will be supplied, up front, by China. Likewise, we will provide to China what was agreed to, including Chinese students using our colleges and universities (which has always been good with me!). We are getting a total of 55% tariffs, China is getting 10%. Relationship is excellent! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For discernment for President Trump and members of his trade team as they continue negotiations with foreign partners.
- For the president and officials in his administration to seek God’s guidance in their foreign policies.
