Hundreds have been arrested and thousands of military personnel deployed.
Anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) demonstrations have erupted in 37 cities across 21 states since the demonstrations began nearly a week ago in Los Angeles. The rioters have thrown bricks and other projectiles at law enforcement, blocked roads and interstates, damaged and defaced property, and looted businesses.
President Donald Trump deployed the California National Guard before sending Marines to protect federal property and support local law enforcement. Over five hundred of the demonstrators have been arrested, primarily in Los Angeles. One man was found dead on a Los Angeles sidewalk on Tuesday. The mayor of Los Angeles called for a curfew four days into the rioting. Spokane’s mayor implemented a curfew on Wednesday.
The largest riots have been staged in California, Oregon, Texas, and Pennsylvania. Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Kash Patel said they are investigating the sources of the funding supporting the demonstrations.
The demonstrations began as ICE agents were acting on criminal warrants for illegal aliens involved in cartel activities in Los Angeles last Friday. Central California U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli questioned the “orchestrated and organized and ready-to-go” demonstrations that began at that time.
Attorney Essayli said, “You’ve got the Antifas, the agitators, the professional rioters, and it’s go-time for them.“
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told Senators that military personnel may be sent to other cities if protests threaten law enforcement.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for President Trump and Secretary Hegseth as they assess the deployment of further active-duty military and National Guard.
- For state and local officials to be discerning in their response to the demonstrations and riots.
- For the protection of ICE agents and law enforcement officers as they carry out their mission to uphold the law.
