HHS Secretary Removes All Members of Vaccine Advisory Committee

He points to conflicts of interest in retiring the group members.

This week, Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. announced that he is “retiring” all 17 members of the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices (ACIP), the panel that advises the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on the vaccine schedule and required immunizations.

Secretary Kennedy said in his announcement that the panel had “become little more than a rubber stamp for any vaccine.” He wrote, “A clean sweep is needed to re-establish public confidence in vaccine science.“

The health secretary said a number of the committee members had been appointed to their 4-year terms at the last minute by President Biden’s administration. He explained, “Without removing the current members, the current Trump administration would not have been able to appoint a majority of new members until 2028.”

Secretary Kennedy also criticized the group for its lack of transparency in vaccine recommendations.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Kennedy to be prudent in his choice of replacement members of ACIP.
  • For U.S. health officials to be discerning and ethical in their recommendations for vaccinations.
