President Trump Sends National Guard to Los Angeles to Quell Riots

Defense secretary prepares to mobilize Marines, should the riots continue.

Riots have taken place in Los Angeles, California, since late last week as demonstrators began attacking U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and a Department of Homeland Security facility. As the attacks spread to local law enforcement, President Donald Trump deployed the National Guard, citing U.S. Code that permits such action when local law enforcement is unable to handle the situation.

Though California Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass decried the move, after rioters blocked interstates, burned cars, and attacked police officers, Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said, “This thing has gotten out of control.“

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “In recent days, violent mobs have attacked ICE Officers and Federal Law Enforcement Agents carrying out basic deportation operations in Los Angeles, California. These operations are essential to halting and reversing the invasion of illegal criminals into the United States.”

“In the wake of this violence… President Trump has signed a Presidential Memorandum deploying 2,000 National Guardsmen to address the lawlessness that has been allowed to fester,“ she continued. ”These criminals will be arrested and swiftly brought to justice. The Commander-in-Chief will ensure the laws of the United States are executed fully and completely.”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated, “There is plenty of room for peaceful protest, but ZERO tolerance for attacking federal agents who are doing their job. The National Guard, and Marines if need be, stand with ICE.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for President Trump as he seeks to ensure law and order in the nation.
  • For the National Guard troops as they deploy to backup law enforcement to stop the rioting.
  • For Secretary Hegseth as he prepares to mobilize the Marines to end the violent demonstrations.
