In the News…
Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought outlined the request being made this week by the White House to rescind funds appropriated by Congress to remove “waste and garbage” found in the government by DOGE efforts. The first rescission request will include funding for the Public Broadcasting Corporation, National Public Radio, and the U.S. Agency for International Development.
“We’ve had good conversations to make sure [Congress] knew it was coming,” Director Vought said. “They had some input as to some of the changes that could be made to make it something that could pass the House.” He confirmed that all that is necessary for the rescission bills is a simple majority in the Senate.
Director Vought also touched on the legislative priority of funding the president’s agenda, stating, “We have been in the process of getting the most important priority done, and that is the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ … we are in the business of actually passing a law. It has $1.6 trillion in actual, mandatory savers for the first time ever.”
