He repeatedly called in false emergencies to the homes of legislators.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced this week that a Romanian citizen pleaded guilty to perpetrating “swatting” incidents against members of Congress and other officials. Thomasz Szabo pled guilty to one count of conspiracy and one count of threats involving explosives.
Swatting is a form of harassment in which a person calls in a violent false emergency, such as a bomb threat or domestic attack, to SWAT and names the home address of their victim as the location of the threat. SWAT teams then descend upon the address provided, which endangers and panics its residents.
Attorney General Pamela Bondi stated “This defendant led a dangerous swatting criminal conspiracy, deliberately threatening dozens of government officials with violent hoaxes and targeting our nation’s security infrastructure from behind a screen overseas. This case reflects our continued focus on protecting the American people and working with international partners to stop these threats at their source.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Attorney General Bondi and Justice Department attorneys as they prosecute violators of U.S. federal law.
- For wisdom for federal judges and Supreme Court justices as they consider and rule on cases.
