President Donald Trump is preparing to speak with Chinese President Xi Jinping regarding tariffs and an updated trade agreement. President Trump recently stated that China had violated its agreement with the United States.

“Both sides have expressed a willingness to talk,” White House Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett said. “People are talking every day, so [U.S. Trade Representative] Jamieson Greer, his team and President Xi’s team in China, they’re talking every day trying to move the ball forward on this matter.”
The House Committee on Rules, chaired by Representative Virginia Foxx of North Carolina, is holding a business meeting to consider legislation related to the Department of Health and Human Services’ evaluation of drug identification technology to address the opioid crisis, and the Small Business Administration, small business lending, and sanctuary cities.
Senate committees and subcommittees are holding hearings to consider the confirmations of President Trump’s nominees and fiscal year 2026 budget requests from various departments and agencies.
