The move indicates warming relations between the United States and Middle Eastern countries.
Syria reopened its United States ambassador’s residence this past week after closing the facility 13 years ago. A U.S. flag was raised outside of the Damascus residence to inaugurate it.
President Trump has also appointed Tom Barrack, the current U.S. ambassador to Turkey, as the new special envoy to Syria. During his latest meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, the new envoy signed an agreement to help develop a $7 billion energy project to revitalize Syria’s aging electricity grid.
“Tom understands there is great potential in working with Syria to stop Radicalism, improve Relations, and secure Peace in the Middle East,” the State Department announced on social media. “Together, we will make America and the world, SAFE AGAIN!”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Ambassador Barrack to be led by the Lord as he engages with Turkish and Syrian officials.
- For wisdom for the president and secretary of state as they implement foreign policies in the Middle East.
