He also announces reduction in management consultants and contractors.
The Pentagon released an internal memo to the public this past week in which Defense Secretary Hegseth directs the Office of the Director of Operational Test and Evaluation (ODOT&E) to reduce its workforce from 94 to 46 personnel.
“A comprehensive internal review has identified redundant, non-essential, non-statutory functions within ODOT&E that do not support operational agility or resource efficiency, affecting our ability to rapidly and effectively deploy the best systems to the warfighter,” Secretary Hegseth said.
While the ODOT&E sets policies, provides oversight for major programs, and serves as an adviser to the Joint Requirements Oversight Council, each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces also has its own teams for the testing of weapons and platforms.
Secretary Hegseth also announced, after a review with DOGE, that the Defense Department would be reducing the number of management consultants and contractors and reforming the department’s usage of executive assistants. Altogether, he estimated these measures would result in a savings of $5 billion.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Hegseth to be led by the Lord as he heads the Defense Department.
- For Pentagon officials as they implement actions to eliminate waste and reduce redundancy and bureaucracy.
